Tips on saving electricity

Electric. Try to use the dishes with the bottom approximately equal to the underside of the burner. If the burner more dishes, then at cooking you just lose your precious electricity to heat the surrounding air.

* Deformed (including expanded) burners should be replaced because with poor fitting in the burners with cooking utensils also lost electricity. Well and, accordingly, do not use dishes with a curved bottom. Electricity losses from bad contact with the cooktop pots may reach up to 50%.

* Use the residual heat - for three to five minutes before the turn off the stove, because if you do not have an induction stove, the burner cools slowly, and this would be enough to "dovarit", "dozharit" or "doparit" dish.

* When using the electric oven, try if possible to fill its entire volume. More practical to prepare a dish for a few people well, or multiple different dishes.

* Do not forget about the pressure cooker - it allows to save energy, time, and besides it keeps the food vitamins and other nutrients.

* Remember - the use of electric stoves for heating, not only ineffective but also dangerous.
Electric kettle

* Boil water in a pot about as much as you need. By the way, I try not to boil a water twice, and the remainder is poured into the decanter, so almost always have bottled water.

* Regularly clean the kettle from scale, as it greatly increases energy consumption. A simple way to get rid of the scale - to pour water to the level of deposits, add one teaspoon of citric acid and boil.
Refrigerator

* Do not install the refrigerator near the heating and heating devices.

* Between the rear wall of the refrigerator and the wall must leave a gap in the 5-10 cm

* It is recommended that the housing is not a refrigerator away from direct sunlight.

* Do not put hot food in the refrigerator.
Lighting

* The most obvious advice - try to make maximum use of natural lighting.

* Use fluorescent lamps instead of the old incandescent lamps. I have over 5 years already moved several times and always a new place all the landlady twisting tubes, clean them out, and screwed his long ago purchased fluorescent.
Iron
    * When purchasing, choose an iron with a thermostat and a switch on the handle.

* Try to iron clothes, for example, once a week rather than every day on set, then you will not lose energy to heat.

Other energy-saving tips

* When buying electrical appliances to choose the most cost-effective energy efficiency class - Class "A".

* Before the onset of cold weather Insulate windows and doors. I usually buy a couple of rolls of adhesive tape and mounting them prokleivayu gap. Incidentally, I remember as a child did not have such convenient pieces and we cut strips of paper, took a piece of soap, soaked in a strip of water, spent a couple of times on her soap and glued to the right place - is practical, cheap and cheerful.

* And lastly, something that probably teach all of childhood - leaving, extinguish the light!

  1. Wondered how much electricity you are actually using? We use a lot and pay a ton (PG&E still paying off for deregulation misadventure). I've thought about moving to solar but want to be sure it's not a heavy investment that displaces only a fraction of use.
