Emergency braking

Emergency (emergency) braking is to stop the vehicle at the minimum distance, usually overnight, in cases of collision risk when it is necessary to quickly stop the car, or reduce its speed.

Typical errors novice drivers in emergency braking is too harsh and slam on your brakes, as well as the hypnotic effect of the approaching danger. With increasing efforts on the brake pedal wheel lock, they cease to roll in the desired direction and begin to slide on the road "skid".
Total block should not be allowed, as this, firstly, increased stopping distance, especially on slippery roads, and secondly, dramatically increases the possibility of skidding car due to lack of direction of rotation of the wheel and the side effects of inertial forces. Most correct in this case the braking of the car before locking the wheels.
Therefore, when a "Hughes" should reduce the force pressing on the pedal and use the technique of intermittent braking (Fig. 20, c). It lies in the fact that, by acting on the brake pedal fast and short bursts, to avoid locking the wheels. It should be periodically stopping, alternating it with the complete cessation.
This method can be applied as in the case of a service brake, using smooth, gradually increasing effort on the pedal (for example, when the braking on a slippery road, when a wheel lock braking to stop completely, and then resume), and in case of emergency braking when you need in time to prevent the wheels from locking.
