Where better to stay in Rome?

Planning for independent journey in one or another country, in one or another city, inevitably confronted with a multitude of issues. One of them - question of a choice of the hotel during the trip. It is clear, that it is possible to formulate some General principles of (on this topic, by the way, something can be read here), but at the same time, each city has its own peculiarities and characteristic features. This article is devoted to the capital of Italy is Rome. Here examines the key issues associated with the question: where is it better to live or in any area of Rome it's better to stop during the journey?

Rome - a city rather big and the same has far from being the best in the world transport infrastructure. What this means in the context of our discussion, where the best stay in Rome? At least one simple thing - in Rome you feel yourself more comfortable than using less transport. It does not matter which transport: public - often heavily loaded, and on a personal car, you can get into such a drain that will not seem a little. Therefore, when selecting a location (district) for a stay in Rome, we would recommend to focus on the historical center of the city. From this point of view, perhaps, the greatest interest is the area, which can be conditionally called the Old Rome. As a guide you can take Navona square (Piazza Navona - Piazza Navona). As it seems to us, deserve special attention hotels (as well as apartments, apartments, hostels and etc.), located approximately in radius of one kilometer from the Piazza Navona.

What is remarkable is designated area? First of all, because stopped here, to many of Rome's attractions you can reach on foot. In addition there is a huge number of various restaurants, тратторий, bars, cafes and other establishments for every taste and purse. Well, and a variety of shops, of course, also welcome. In a word, the area that is the most that neither is on the Central, with all the attendant advantages. However, and disadvantages, of course, exist. First of all it is the high accommodation prices in the nearby hotels. Hotel prices, in General, vary depending on the season, but in the area they are consistently higher than anywhere else in Rome. When choosing a hotel in the Old Rome can be repelled from about 80 - 90 Euro per room per night - this is the minimum. Sometimes, however, there are also more attractive offers, but in General live in this area is quite expensive, and, say, 120 - 150 Euro for a room not look like something transcendental.

If the hit to the other extreme and focus on maximum savings, the cheapest option is to live in the suburbs or in the suburbs of Rome. For the money you get is much cheaper (approximately 30 - 40 euros per room per day). But, on the other hand, in the centre of Rome will have to get on buses, trains or in the best case on the subway.

However, you can try to find the Golden mean. In this sense, we would like to draw attention to two areas: the vicinity of the railway station «Termini» (Roma Termini - hotels see here) and the surroundings of the Vatican city (Vaticano hotels - see here). You can say that it is - the outskirts of the historic centre of Rome. By and large from here to the many attractions can be reached on foot, and the prices for accommodation in hotels of relatively low (approximately from 40 - 50 Euro per room per day). In the Vatican area hotels, perhaps, even cheaper. But stop near the Roma Termini is much more convenient from the point of view of transport. It is through this station should be most of the trains to other cities of Italy, from here you can quickly reach both Roman airports (Fiumicino airport (Fiumicino) and Ciampino (Ciampino)) and just at the point of intersection of two branches of the Rome metro. However, if you focus on the Roma Termini station, it is better to stop somewhere in the Northern or Eastern, but not southern destination, as this area, between the railway station and the Coliseum (Colosseo), is not the most prosperous place (here is pretty dirty, and more likely to occur theft).

In brief, these are our recommendations for areas where you can stay in Rome. Of course, there are other options. Ultimately, much depends on the specific objectives of the travel and the personal preferences of the traveler. Nevertheless, we hope that the considerations outlined above will be useful to You in the process of search for and select the hotel in Rome.
